The NHS does not pay for some of the services we provide. These include private sick notes, insurance forms, holiday cancellation forms, medical reports, fitness to travel certificates, private prescriptions, passport signing and some vaccination services.
Where patients request non-NHS services, a private fee will be payable.
Whilst we will always attempt to assist our patients with the completion of letters and forms, private work is done at the GP’s discretion and will not take priority over NHS work.
Non-NHS work is only given to GPs when they have capacity. Generally it can take up to four weeks to be completed. In particularly busy periods, i.e. Christmas and during the summer holidays, it may take up to six weeks.
